April Yang Design Studio, in collaboration with Hassell, Airbiz, and China Northeast Architectural Design and Research Institute, created a design for the Harbin Taiping International Airport and won “Best New Global Design 2011” from the Chicago Athenaeum. The Chicago Athenaeum, in association with The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies, launched The International Architecture Awards in 2005. This award is hailed as “the world's most prestigious global award for new architecture, landscape architecture, interiors and urban planning”. The program attracts entries from many of the industry’s most respected and emerging design firms.

April Yang Design Studio 與Hassell, Airbiz, 中國東北設計院合作項目哈爾濱太平國際機場建築設計方案獲得2011 年度芝加哥Athenaeum 全球新建築設計獎。芝加哥Athenaeum 奖于2005 年開始頒發國際建築設計獎。這個獎項被譽為“世界最有聲望的新建築、景觀、室內設計和城市規劃環球獎", 吸引業內眾多著名公司及新興事務所參賽。
